Australian-born Brady Haran has been fascinated by science since boyhood.
However his other passion was journalism, and he became newspaper reporter at The Adelaide Advertiser.
After seven years on the paper - including a stint as science correspondent - Brady moved to the UK in 2002.
He joined the BBC as a reporter for the corporation's news website, but soon found himself with a video camera in his hands.
Brady's been a video journalist since 2003 - taking responsibility for all aspects of his film productions, from filming to editing.
He was appointed filmmaker-in-residence for Nottingham Science City in 2007, as part of a fellowship agreed between the BBC and the University of Nottingham. |
