Ben Vince is in the third year of his mechanical engineering course at the University of Nottingham.

He's currently undertaking a biomechanics project to make a rig allowing him to test the strength of knee ligaments in high force imapcts.

Ben will be using sheep knees (from an abattoir), though in the longer term his research would be oriented towards testing how the knees of humans withstand car-pedestrian collisions.
