Professor Martyn Poliakoff, CBE, is a research professor at the University of Nottingham - and he admits he looks like a stereotypical scientist.

Two of his favourite areas of research are supercritical fluids and green chemistry.

He is also the older brother of well-known writer/director Stephen Poliakoff.
